Pizza Hut — Mineola, TX

In April 2022 the Wood County Monitor marked the retirement of Richard Elston, who had managed the Mineola Pizza Hut since moving from Denton in 1991. The store was about six years old when he took over and had already gone through three managers. Elston stayed 31 years, part of a 44-year career with the chain, and left at 65, turning the restaurant over to Tracey Allen, who had worked beside him for 13 or 14 years. The paper reported that the kitchen turns out 3,000 to 4,000 pizzas a week and has given away or discounted pizzas for local groups and causes. The restaurant is on North Johnson; Mineola's restored 1906 depot is a stop on Amtrak's Texas Eagle.
